About Us

Top Line Management Consulting is a consulting firm specializing in business development for the heavy civil capital improvement industry.

Facilitates Strategic Planning to Improve Market Positioning and Penetration

Top Line Management Consulting will design and facilitate strategic planning workshops to help your team focus its efforts for optimal results. We have done this for a number of other organizations. For example, we led a Southern California engineering team to create 11 strategic initiatives to focus their market positioning, improve customer satisfaction, and grow revenue. Initiative topics included client damage control, strategic teaming, branding, mentor-protégé structure, quality control, etc.

Explores New Markets for Smart Growth If you are considering entrée into a new market, we will do broad market research that is custom-fit to your team’s priorities, capabilities, and resources. We have done this type of research on a number of heavy civil market segments and geographies. For example we did exploratory research of the US West power and renewable energy market for a heavy civil contractor to aid them in deciding if and where to pursue this new arena of opportunities. The final report gave a grade and recommendation for each market segment in each sub-region based on its viability, proximity, and fit.

Identifies and Tracks Project Leads to Stay Ahead of the Competition We will ferret out new project opportunities to build your leads list and stay ahead of your competition. Through team consultation, research of capital improvement plans, cold calls to agencies, and intelligence from our network of owners, contractors, designers, and subs, we will develop and maintain a list of leads for your team. While your team may be engrossed in immediate and urgent issues such as large bids, constructability conflicts, or supply shortages, we will ensure that your business development is consistently attended to.

Gathers Market Intelligence for Good Decision-Making While scouring the marketplace for leads, we will pick up key intelligence about the competition, other teams forming, subs, designers, and agency opinions. This information can be quite helpful in Go/No Go decision-making, teaming, strategic alliances, and pursuit strategy. We will share what we learn to help your team pursue the best opportunities and position to win.

Connects Leaders for Effective Relationship Marketing We will help tee-up opportunities for your team leaders to build relationships and explore possibilities with potential partners and key clients. We have made many connections resulting in teaming, strategic alliances, and pre-bid client exposure.
